FAQs

What can I expect from counseling?

At Red Door Counseling Services, you can expect to be welcomed, comfortable, and safe. I realize that deciding to come to counseling and sharing your personal story is difficult, and I strive to make sure you feel cared for during the counseling process. I also know that you came to counseling to experience some real change in your life, so it is my aim to make sure you achieve your personal counseling goals. I will work with you to achieve the transformation you desire.

How long will counseling last and how often should I come?

There is no “one size fits all” when it comes to the counseling experience. It truly depends on your goals for yourself. Change can happen within as little as a few sessions, or it may take many sessions to see real progress. After our first session, I aim to be transparent about how much I recommend you come and for how long based on what you desire to see change. I find that the clients who are able to come once a week see the most progress.

Will everything I share be confidential?

Absolutely. Everything you say while in counseling is legally protected, with a few exceptions (child abuse, harm to self and others). Personal information cannot be released without your documented consent.

What are your hours?

I am currently in the office Wednesday - Friday, and offer telehealth sessions on Monday and Tuesday. My earliest appointments are available at 8:30am, and the latest is at 6pm.

How much does therapy cost?

Individual therapy (both adolescent and adult) is priced at $150 for a 50 minute session. Partner sessions are $185. If you would like a longer session, please ask about prorated pricing! I also offer limited sliding scale spots. Ask me about getting on the waitlist!

Do you take insurance?

Currently, Red Door Counseling Services does not accept insurance but can provide a superbill for insurance companies upon request.

How can I pay for sessions?

You may pay with cash, check, major credit or debit card, FSA cards, or HSA cards.

Do I need to be a resident of Colorado to start counseling?

Yes, counseling is only available for those who currently reside in Colorado due to current restrictions on mental health licensure in the United States.

What if I need to cancel?

Life is hectic and plans change. I ask that you inform me 24-48 hours or more before your appointment. If you cancel with less than 24 hours notice, you will be charged the full amount of the session.

What if I don’t know whether I need therapy?

If you have questions or concerns about therapy, we can schedule a free phone consultation to see if Red Door Counseling Services is the right fit. Choosing a counselor who you connect with is extremely important, and if you feel like I’m not a good fit for you, I will gladly refer you to someone who we both agree may be able to help. If you are here and contemplating whether therapy is right for you, you are already taking the first step!
